AN ART A DAY CHALLENGE
ok start thinking about this...|
"Mock a Master"
The idea with this Challenge will be to study and then mimic or use as inspiration a famous artist. Lately I was really into Frida Kalho. I got a bunch of books from the library and read about her and then used her images, pictures of her and her artwork, as well as quotes said by her in an altered book. (images here http://sheba-kitty-productions.com/pastimes/html/altered_books.html)
So the basic format will be to PICK AN ARTIST before July first, and then get to your research. Once you feel that you have enough resources/information, begin your art.
You can CHOOSE to do an entire art piece everyday (which was the point of the first challenge) OR you can just plan to make/ work on/ research something everyday.
I hope that you will use this group to share some of the research you discover about the artist. (famous quotes by the artist are always fun to share and very inspirational)
I hope that you will use this challenge to actually pick a famous work of art and then do YOUR version.
I hope you will use the artist you pick to influence and inspire the colors, images, medium and style of your daily work.
I hope you will post images of the work you come up with and share your process.
This group and the challenges are meant to support, stretch and motivate you. So if you don't do something for a day or more, no problem! We are also not here to FORCE anything on you. Many people in the first challenge found it really educational. We learned about our own styles, work habits and more.
Again I will run a contest. I will invite you at the end to submit ONE piece that is MOST like a mater's piece and you should submit it along with a link of the original image of the art you mimicked. If you have some prizes you would like to donate for the ongoing contests, please contact me off-list.
